The Solar PV Research Group focuses on advanced solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for tropical climates in improving efficiency, durability, and adaptability under high temperatures, humidity, and intense solar radiation. It also explore the integration of PV with energy storage systems (incl. battery energy storage system/BESS, hydrogen energy storage system/HESS, etc.) for a sustainable, reliable, and clean energy systems. 

The research focuses on:

• Reliability, Performance, and Durability of PV Components (PV Modules) and PV Systems;
• Research, development and demonstration of Floating PV systems (FPV power systems, mobile FPV for Agricultural Irrigation, etc);
• Development of Solar PV modules for Tropical Climates;
• Development of Smart Hybrid PV Systems (On-grid & off-grid PV systems, hybrid power solutions, etc.);
• Development of Advanced Solar Energy Storage Systems (Battery storage energy systems /BESS, hydrogen based-storage systems, etc.).
